Curriculum Advisor – Shelagh
My name is Shelagh. E-Volve IT Support have asked me to join them as a Curriculum Consultant so that I can assist the schools they support, initially by providing help with implementing the new 2014 National Curriculum for Computing. However, I am also available to give training in curriculum software.
Prior to taking early retirement, I worked at Weston Coyney Junior School for 12 years as their ICT Coordinator.
During that time I was also a member of the ICT Working Group at Stoke LA, as well as teaching some courses for the Gifted and Talented Cluster Group sessions and being part of many ICT pilot schemes run by Longton CLC.
Before teaching in primary schools, I used to run Computers from Scratch courses at Newcastle College for both adults and children, as well as teaching other computing courses in a variety of venues in Newcastle.
I attended the Bett Show in London in January and have up-‐to-‐date knowledge of the latest ideas in computing in education. I have also joined the Computing at Schools online community (CAS), which is an excellent source of ideas for teaching the new Computing Curriculum.
Currently there are a few Computing Schemes of Work that are available to purchase – but I believe that schools do not need to invest huge sums of money in a ‘bought’ Computing Scheme of Work.
I can help schools devise their own ‘bespoke’ scheme to complement the other curriculum topics they have chosen to teach in each year group. Or I can help schools to ‘tweak’ the Scheme of Work they have already purchased to make it more effective.
Additionally I can complete an audit of existing curriculum software and hardware and use that to recommend new purchases or free software.
If you think you would benefit from my help please email E-Volve IT Support: [email protected]
