Who’s listening to your conversations?
Digital chit chat.
When you use a digital device connected to the internet such as smartphones or laptops they’re constantly chattering away sending and receiving data with their digital chums.
They do this to send and receive the requests that you make such as asking Google “Where should I go on Holiday?” Or more sensitive exchanges such as checking your bank balance. Maybe you’re entering sensitive customer data into your CRM.
Behind closed door.
Somethings are better said behind closed doors, and I know I personally would not stand in the street or a crowded place talking about my personal circumstances and certainly not my staff or customers.
There are safeguards in place. Your bank encrypts data that it sends, but if you’re sharing WI-FI (public or work), it is still possible to listen in.
Man in the middle.
Much like piggy in them middle the aim of the cyber crime game is to intercept that data and use is for personal gains. A user sat in the same coffee shop / shared office or using your home broadband because you haven’t changed the default password can quite easily pick up on your digital conversation.
They then take your information away and try to use either selling it on the dark web or using it to intercept money. These are just a couple of examples.
Build you own tunnel.
A VPN protects your data because you create a tunnel of encrypted traffic from your device straight out to the internet. Nobody on your local network (home broadband, coffee shop, conference centre etc) can listen in because you’re talking a different language.
Nord Layer.
Is the product that we recommend, it’s a business grade product that works for SMB users who want to protect their individual devices and data security.
It also scales well for those who need to protect an office network with servers and other shared devices where remote access to on premise networks is required.
It costs as little as £6.50 +vat per month.
Conclusion
